Andy Condon és barátai ismét nagyot alkottak! A The Glimmer Room a Tomorrows Tuesday (2002), a Grey Mirrors (2004) és a Now We Are Six (2007) után a Home Without Journey című albumával végképp megmutatta, hogy az elektronikus zene jegjobbjai közt kell ezt a formációt számon tartani. Andy azon alkotók közé tartozik, akik nem csak jó zenéket csinálnak, de van mondanivalójuk is. A Home Without Journey ilyen szempontból is igazán sokat ad. Köszönjük Andy!:)

"Two and a half years in the making, this is the most complex and intricate album Andy Condon has recorded to date. The title track moves through many delicate movements in the twenty -eight minuets of the track, from the full and dense moments we move into a tidal ambient landscapes and back again. It all ends up as a subtle sonic monument to all the lessons learned working on the first two Glimmer Room albums.
Carbon Statues the second track was recorded in a sleepless weekend after being left home alone. Again Andy follows the wish to explore the more fluid style of music introduced in Home Without The Journey. The result is a very introspective and delicate melodic piece wrapped up in almost tidal washes of processed sounds. The track features the voice of the late Robert Oppenheimer. The third track Cool Blue And The Plough is a track of two halves the first slowly
introduces a long and evolving cyclic sequential theme punctuated with bursts of melody. This acts as the perfect introduction to the last half and the climax of the album. This last part brings with it the feeling of the sun breaking through the clouds with a melancholy melody and a choral pad that was recorded to sound like a sonic double helix running through the track. Cool Blue And The Plough features The Jupiter 8’s OJ on fretless bass guitar. Making a break away from the modern trend to make CD’s sound as load as possible but at the cost of a loss in dynamics. Home Without The journey has purposely been mastered in a way that holds back on shear volume to make way for an album that follows the highs and lows in a much more intimate and emotional way."

A Time & Motion a "Time" trilógia utolsó darabja. A kritikák - szokás szerint - erről a lemezről is lelkendezve írnak. Íme egy ezekből:

"Sequences, atmospheric passages and soaring leads mixed with the driving forces of English School aggressiveness and percussion.
Based on the format of the previous two "Time" albums, Timeslip and Timestorm, Time & Motion also adds a new element with a carefully crafted virtual lead guitar sound, lashing out heavy chords and screaming solos.
This is the third in his 'Time' series and once again, right from the beautifully mellotron washed opener, he comes up with a real Berlin School pleaser. Wonderful thick analogue sounds abound supporting the Tron and of course sequences take a leading role both in melody and as an exciting driving force. There is also a gentler, even tender side portrayed. I would even go as far as to describe it as pure joy, especially in the use of nicely bouncing rhythms and uplifting virtual guitar. It just wouldn't seem right though for such an album to be in a completely 'positive' mood so there are also the occasional brooding moments such as on the third track, the rhythms this time imparting a dark determination battling against the more euphoric sequence, a searing lead line arcing between the opposing forces. If anything the last track is even more powerful, the snarling lead and earth shaking pulsations being quite devastating, finishing proceedings with a real snarl. It reminded me a little of the heavier moments from Edgar Froese's 'Ages'. If you are a fan of analogue sounding sequencer and Mellotron based music this should be well up your street. I certainly enjoyed it immensely. Every track was worth a listen but especially that last twenty-three minute piece was quite awesome!"

John Lakveet: The Last Nine Convoys from Magoria Station (2008)

This album is a result of the musical project, arranged and mastering, which was submitted on September 28th. 2007 in the cultural center "Magoria Station" Polivalente hall, Barcelona.

Pure synthesiser music with strong Berlin school influence. The album begins with an evocative build up of steam and squeaking machinery followed by the departure of a train from a station - an appreciative burst of applause reminds us that this is a live album - then the journey is under way. Liquid clean synths with strong rhythms set the pace - swishing effects, tonal shifts and demented bird-like calls enlivening the mix. John Lakveet layers burbling sequences into mesmerising cycles, rolling along in constant evolution, light percussive structures in perfect step, smooth sheets of tone and ambient forms gliding above. The music rises and falls in intensity - building to locomotive pace with all elements percolating, then dropping down into wistful lightness as if we're drifting among the air currents left behind by the speeding train. There are some mysterious pieces - peculiar echoing tones looming out of sonic darkness - as if our musical odyssey were passing into the night, there are also twinkling sections of delicate luminance. The imagery of the moving train naturally is carried throughout the recording - the ripple of sequencers almost constant, yet never the sounding same for long.

Craig Padilla - Skip Murphy: Analog Destination (2008)

Ezt az albumot főként s_ata barátomnak ajánlom, aki köztudottan Craig Padilla muzsikájának kedvelője, s egyben az amerikai szerző munkásságának avatott szakértője is!:)

In 2007, Padilla & Murphy recorded a new CD loaded with celestial interludes, complex sequences, and soaring melodic synth-lines. Three tracks were recorded "live in the moment" in Murphy's Dancing Astronaut Studio using every bit of electronic gear in the studio (including two ARP 2600's), and the other track was recorded during a live performance at the Sundial Bridge in Redding, CA! (Master multi-instrumentalist, Bruce Turgon, mastered the CD; Visionary artist, Nick Stevens, created the fantastic cover art!)

As you might have guessed from the title this album shows the team deep in improvised Berlin School territory. Wonderful dreamy echoing sounds and slow moody melody get the title track underway. A purposeful bass sequence begins to form which is soon followed by more lines of pulsations; one melodic while the other provides a splashing contrast. The excitement level increases all the time as flashing solos and a driving rhythm are added to the brew. Next up is the almost half hour long 'Stellar Nursery'. Little computer twitters mix with suitably out of this world cosmic effects taking me way back to those heady mid seventies days of analog synthesis. Soft peaceful pads float above it all. A gentle note droplet melody hangs in the air, the feeling of dreamy peacefulness enhanced still further by wordless choral sighing effects. In the seventh minute the first sequence strikes up, soon joined by some relaxed chugging beats. A lonesome lead line takes us forward. At around the half way mark the original sequence and rhythm depart to be replaced by a slow rumbling bass line contrasted by little flutey flourishes. Deep bass drones give 'Live Illusions' a rather subterranean feel. It's so peaceful as if drifting on a subtly lit underground lake. Ripples start to disturb the water as a shimmering sequence emerges in the fourth minute. The relaxed state continues until the last few minutes when searing triumphant soloing lets rip. 'Quantum Swirl' initially returns us to gentle realms, a beautiful but slightly haunting flute drifting from the speakers. A wonderful deep but also melodic chugging sequence slowly seeps into the body, my feet moving to it as the pace gradually increases. A moody staccato lead skips amongst the pulsations. More sequences are deployed as the track gains added oomph, spitting attitude. Well it seems as if the guys have saved the best till last- this is an awesome track! The closest I have heard them sound to 'Rubycon' but still with plenty of character of their own especially in the lead department. What a way to finish! (DL)

In January 2008, E=,motion’s sixth solo album is released. Those who enjoyed previous works shouldn’t be disappointed... It’s full of great multi-layered sequences and pleasant melodies. Moreover, this time more attention has been paid to preparation of original, dynamically modified sounds, which you want hear anywhere else.

E=motion is Jacek Spruch from Poland, and he specializes in upbeat melodic sequencer-based music of the kind that Tangerine Dream used to make in the mid 1980s. “Reunion” starts in typically bright fashion, with moderate pacing, carried along on gentle steady rhythms and synth soloing. It flows effortlessly into the chugging beat of “Blue Road”, which finds a pleasant middle ground and stays with it for the duration. E-ternity is dedicated to the memory of Jacek’s mother, and “Mother” is the next track. A beautiful crystalline sequence, like some of the best vintage Klaus Schulze, appears in short order, followed by a light acoustic guitar synth patch. Other electronics are smoothly laid over the top for another pleasing arrangement. “Anxiety” is brisk and bouncy, though fortunately not at all panic inducing. Words like “enjoyable” and “agreeable” are apt descriptions for the music throughout. Though the album does not have distinct highs and lows it is quite easy on the ears and would be particularly suitable for a sunny weekend afternoon drive. A következő bejegyzést eredetileg karácsonykor szerettem volna megejteni. Annak szántam volna, aki az elmúlt 5 év legszebb pillanatait adta nekem. Can Atilla új lemezét zenés karácsonyi jókivánságként szerettem volna jelképesen az ő - ismét oly távol lévő - fája alá tenni. Mint ahogy az elmúlt karácsonyokkor is tettem. (Különös, a Can Atilla lemezek mindig így karácsony táján jönnek ki.)
A karácsonyi bejegyzésből nem lett semmi. Mi tagadás, pocsék karácsonyom volt, még pocsékabb folytatással. A kényszerű ünnep (számomra a karácsony sohase volt a meghittség ünnepe) úgy látszik, kifejlesztett bennem egy védekezési mechanizmust: a menekülést a semmibe. Ilyenkor az ember először a tetteket, aztán a szavakat, végül a gondolatokat is elhagyja. És amikor már az emlékek sem a sajátjaiként tűnnek elő, amikor a tükörbe nézve önmagát is idegennek látja, akkor beköszönt a nagy semmi. Nincs itt semmi emelkedettség, nincs megtisztulás, nincs nirvána, csak egy nagy SEMMI.

Miközben ezeket a sorokat írom innen a nagy SEMMIből, s hallgatom Can Atilla lemezét, különös, de azt veszem észre, hogy ez a zene rólam szól. Nyoma sincs benne a korábbi lemezeken megszokott pátosznak, nincsenek a fülben megmaradó dallamok. Komor, vad tájakra visz el a szerző, talán nem is mindig valós tájakra. Sokszor úgy érezzük, a lélek sivatagán át vezet ez az út.
Dzsalál ad-Dín Rúmi, a legnagyobb perzsa szúfi misztikus költő, akit követői Mewlana ("Mesterünk", "Mi Urunk") néven illetnek, a mai Afganisztán területére eső Horashan tertomány Belkh nevű falujábóé származott. Innen családjával együtt Bagdadon, Mekkán, Medinán, Jeruzsálemen és Damaszkuszon át Anatóliába vándorolt, s végül a szeldzsuk törökök virágzó fővárosában, Konyában telepedett meg 1228-ban. Utazásai során bámulatos tudásra tett szert az iszlám jog és hagyományok terén, de kiválóan ismerte az arab, perzs, indiai irodalmat és a görög filozófiát. Tanítványainak köre már életében széles volt, halála után pedig tanítványai megalapították a síremléke körül a Mevlevi dervisrend központját. Ma ők az úgynevezett "kerengő dervisek". Mevlana leghíresebb műve a Masznavi-je Manavi óriási hatással volt a szúfi misztikus gondolkodásra és irodalomra.
Can Atilla műve sem választható el a szúfi misztikától, a konyai kerengő dervisek világától. Nem csak impressziókat ad egy számunkra távoli kultúra néhány eleméről, hanem megpróbál megutaztatni bennünket abban. Most már harmadszor hallgatva, úgy érzem egész jól csinálja.

Ajánlom a fentebbi sorokat és Can Atilla muzsikáját annak, aki engem szeretne elfelejteni, de akit én sose tudok elfelejteni, s aki a nagy SEMMI közben is talán az egyetlen valóság az életemben.
